On 30 May 2021 a dive accident in Bjørvika, Oslo, changed everything. From elite sport to paralysis from the chest down. The story became the TV 2 documentary series “Fighter”.
GK also took the case against Oslo municipality all the way to the Supreme Court. Today he tells it on stage, with humour, gravity and honesty.

Competes as an amateur at the European MMA championships, followed by the world championships in 2016.
Dives from the quay in Bjørvika, Oslo, often called the Sørenga accident. Spinal cord injury, paralysed from the chest down. From elite sport to rehabilitation.
Begins rehabilitation at Sunnaas hospital. By the end of June he is in a wheelchair and calls for better signage at the dive spot.
The case is filed with Oslo District Court. The question is whether the municipality secured and signposted the bathing spot well enough.
The court finds the municipality liable for damages, reduced for his own contribution.
The Court of Appeal also finds the municipality liable, but with a larger reduction.
Fighter has its Norwegian premiere at Vega Scene in Oslo.
Unanimous ruling (HR-2025-1055-A): the municipality is not liable. GK told the press he feels the injustice.
The series cut plays in Lille. The film competes in the documentary competition in Zurich.
Three episodes. By TV 2’s own figures, the second best performing new documentary of 2025.
VG reports that GK will take the ruling to the European Court of Human Rights.
Nominated for best documentary series. The craft award for best editing (documentary) went to Kristian Tveit and Trine Nordmark Børstad.
